Description

The Boker Plus Extension Knife is a folding knife with an extended blade. Extension knives have a long tradition in hunting. When folded, the handle covers exactly half of the cutting edge, whilst the other half extends beyond the handle. This means the knife can be used for all tasks associated with game handling, such as gutting, skinning and cutting. When the knife is extended, the blade length is ideal for handling wounded game, which, fortunately, is a rare occurrence. Extension knives lock in both the open and closed positions. Legally, extendable knives can be classified as folding knives, which means that, unlike fixed-blade knives, there is no 12 cm blade length restriction. The Boker Plus extension knife is one of the rare, if not the only, modern interpretations of an extension knife. The designer and engineer, Wilfried Hein, is virtually unknown, but he is all the more creative when it comes to devising specialised technical solutions. During his eventful life, he has mainly advised various German authorities on requirements for weapon technologies and has initiated numerous detailed development projects. The extendable knife features a solid and substantial D2 blade, which is locked in place by a large cross-bolt in both the open and closed positions. The cross-bolt can be screwed into the handle without tools for even greater stability in both the fully extended and retracted positions. The handle, made from two thick steel plates and milled G10, is a modern interpretation of the double-T-shaped handles of the 14th- and 15th-century Baselards. For versatile use, the knife features a sturdy impact spike at the end of the handle. The knife comes with a specially crafted Kydex sheath.
