Exotac FireROD XLTM Refill Kit Replacement Magnesium Rod

Description

The Exotac FireROD XLTM spare magnesium rod uses a patented rare-earth metal alloy called ferrocarium. Some of these metals include iron, cerium, and magnesium. When a ferrocerium rod is rapidly scraped, the resulting friction ignites the shavings, producing molten globules of burning metal. It is these long-burning molten metal globules that make the ferrocerium igniter so effective at igniting other materials. HOW TO REPLACE: To replace an old rod, simply unscrew the old rod and screw in the new one. Make sure the rod is tightly secured to the rod holder. TIPS: If desired, a drop of blue or purple Loctite will help secure the rod if it becomes loose. The 5/16″ ferrocenium rod works when wet. Up to 20,000 ignitions!
