Description
Various versions of the Boker Applegate-Fairbairn have been used by special forces around the world for years and have become an icon among tactical knives. The knife pays homage to the classic World War II Fairbairn-Sykes knife and was designed by Colonel Rex Applegate. This elite soldier coordinated covert operations throughout Europe during the war and even served as a personal bodyguard to President Franklin D. Roosevelt. He trained Allied special forces in close combat and founded the “School for Spies and Assassins” at what is now Camp David. Later, he continued to work as a consultant and trainer, wrote numerous books on close combat, and began developing and refining the perfect combat knife.
The smaller-and thus more comfortable-version of the Applegate-Fairbairn was developed based on the same concept as its larger counterpart. A fiberglass-reinforced Delrin handle with integrated stainless steel weights, a brass guard, and a blade made of 440C steel. The blade features the typical double-beveled edge on one side, typical of combat knives, and a flat bevel on the other side. The set includes a Kydex sheath and a Tek-Lok lock.
