Description

Two weightlifters in the desert? Knives instead of controllers? Hunger instead of pizza? It sounds absurd, but it’s happening: Trymacs (29) from Hamburg and Rumathra (27) from Bonn are teaming up for the upcoming 7 vs. Wild and are embarking on a 14-day adventure in the Canadian wilderness. Together, the two streamers from the German streaming/gaming scene have over 4 million followers on Twitch (Trymacs 3.4 million, Rumathra 0.7 million), and they’re also very popular on YouTube and Instagram. As part of their intensive preparation for this extreme experience, choosing the right equipment-especially since all items had to fit together in a 1-liter Nalgene bottle-played a key role for both of them.

Together with Rumathra, who visited us several times at our factory in Solingen, we developed and created our own knife, which is fully tailored to the requirements and conditions of the upcoming outdoor adventure. The basis for this new design is the Boker Plus Vigtig outdoor and bushcraft knife, designed by Dave Wenger, which not only fits perfectly into the bottle thanks to its dimensions (total length: 19.7 cm; blade thickness: 4 mm), but is also designed to withstand the harshest conditions. The steel chosen for the blade is Magnacut, which, unlike commonly used tool steels, was specifically developed for knife production. Despite its high chromium content of 10.7% and its impressive hardness of over 62-63 HRC, this steel-which has been hailed as “miracle steel”-has a very fine microstructure and, as a result, high resistance to impact loads.

Combined with the True-Scandi grind, the Stonewash-coated blade is up to any challenge: from fine cutting and carving to camp building and firewood preparation to butchering game. To make optimal use of the space inside the Nalgene bottle, the two scales on the green Micarta handle are slightly flatter than in the original version and ensure a perfect grip even when wet. There’s a special feature on the inside of the handle. Instead of hollow rivets, the two large screws can be easily removed with a coin to reveal a 14-mm-deep compartment, which is generous compared to the handle’s external dimensions and can easily accommodate tweezers, fire starters, charcoal tablets, a fishing kit, and safety pins. Even as a skeletonized knife without scales on the handle, the Böker Vigtig vs. Wild stands out with its elegant silhouette and highlights the versatility of this special model.
