Description
The Fox Knives Tribal K M390 Bronze Anodized Titanium knife is inspired by a karambit designed by Daniel Mumbaqui Foronda, a friend and colleague of Markayda, a Filipino martial arts master. Mumbakki, proud of his Igorote tribal heritage, belongs to the indigenous people of the Cordillera Mountains in the northern Philippines. The term “Igorot” derives from the Spanish word “Ygollotes,” which means “mountain people.” Most Igotot ethnic groups build terraced fields to maximize agricultural space on the rugged terrain of the Cordilleras. Every member of the various tribes is trained in farming, hunting, and survival, which explains why every Igorot is skilled in the use of various weapons: spears, arrows, axes, knives, kam, guns, darts, bows and arrows, slingshots, and even natural materials, such as sharpened animal bones, used as backup weapons. Many members of the Igorot tribe wear necklaces made from wild boar tusks, and the shape of these tusks inspired the design of the Tribal K. The serrated edges on the back of the Tribal K can be used to make cuts similar to a saw, while the handle design pays homage to the triangular patterns and lines of movement found in many Filipino martial arts systems.
