The Spyderco ARKTM FRN Black H-2 FRN knife is a specially designed self-defense knife created by U.S. Army veteran John Shirley and his friend Sam Owens. During his mission in Afghanistan, Shirley learned that an alarming number of American service members were falling victim to sexual assaults, especially while showering. Drawing on his knowledge of Japanese martial arts and leveraging Owens’ skills as a master craftsman, the two developed the ARK as a lightweight self-defense tool that can be carried virtually anywhere. At the heart of ARK is a deeply curved blade forged from H-2® steel-a nitrogen-based alloy that is exceptionally corrosion-resistant. The curved blade delivers impressive cutting power in its compact form, and the clip-style blade profile ensures a strong, exceptionally sharp tip. The ARK’s handle is made of glass-fiber-reinforced nylon (FRN) and is molded directly onto the blade. It features Spyderco’s proven Two-Way TextureTM and an index finger groove to ensure a secure grip-even with wet hands. To ensure versatile carry options, the ARK includes a die-cast polymer neck loop with a detachable chain. Best of all, the ARK and its sheath together weigh just 2.0 ounces (57 grams), so you’ll hardly notice they’re there-until you need them.
