The TRC Knives Speed Demon M390 DLC knife is named after the legendary American race car driver Frank Lockhart. The pursuit of the land speed record is the ultimate quest of modern man. A true daredevil, self-taught mechanic, and a veritable speed demon, Lockhart was the real-life hero everyone talked about at their dinner tables. In 1926, he became the youngest winner of the Indy 500 at just 24 years old. Lockhart went on to win many more prestigious races, capturing the imagination of the American people. But his true goal was to set the record for the highest speed on land. On April 25, 1928, Lockhart got behind the wheel of his remarkable V16 Stutz Black Hawk at Daytona Beach. Only 25 years old at the time, Lockhart was flying at a record-breaking 354 km per hour when suddenly the right rear tire burst, and the world stopped spinning for him. Today, his legend lives on, as the speed demons of our era continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible.

As we handcrafted this urban-style knife, we were reminded of Lockhart and his way of life. A lightweight 70 g model, the SPEED DEMON features an innovative urban design and a skeletonized handle.
