The Cold Steel 4-MAX SCOUT knife is big, cool, and strong. A worthy pocket knife at an incredible price. The original Max design was popular but a bit more expensive. That’s why Cold Steel introduced the 4-MAX SCOUT: just as large and impressive, but a bit more affordable. The blade is made of AUS10A steel. It’s a decent grade of Japanese steel that performs well and is also easy to sharpen. You open the blade with one hand using the large thumb stud. We noticed that this is easier if you have larger hands. But that’s almost obvious when you look at the size of this knife. The handle is also designed for larger hands and is made of Griv-Ex-a sturdy plastic that offers a good grip and is relatively lightweight. And yet, the 4-Max Scout is still quite heavy, which isn’t surprising given its size. When opened, the blade locks in place with a sturdy Tri-Ad lock-an invention by Demko!
