The Fox Slim Dragontac “Piemontes” N690Co Ziricote Wood knife is a rather rare interpretation of ancient Japanese knives. A distinctive feature of the Fox Slim Dragontac model is the Friction lock, which features a long tail at the heel of the blade that, when the knife is opened, wraps around the back of the handle and is secured by the palm holding the knife. A similar lock is used in razors, farm knives, and Japanese higonokami. The Wharncliffe-profile blade is crafted from high-strength N690Co stainless steel with a hardness of 58-60 HRC and features a satin finish to reduce glare. The handle is made of exotic ziricoto wood, often used to craft handles for custom knives. Ziricote is becoming a popular material for many applications, primarily for elegant furniture, musical instrument necks, and knife handles. Ziricote is very expensive. The high price is due not only to its exotic origin but also to the difficulty in working with the wood. Comes with a natural leather sheath.
