The Opinel No. 8 knife, part of the Animalia series, is manufactured by the French company Opinel, which has a 120-year history and has become a symbol of French culture and traditions. The first Opinel was created in 1890 by Joseph Opinel, who was 18 years old at the time and worked in his family’s cutlery workshop. The knife quickly gained popularity among local farmers, ranchers, and winegrowers thanks to its lightness and durability. This popularity soon spread beyond the borders of the province of Savoie, and today extends beyond France as well. The 8.5 cm stainless steel blade is exceptionally durable and has a hardness of 55-57 HRC. In addition, this model is equipped with a Virobloc lock, which secures the knife in both the open and closed positions, making it easier to use.
