The Opinel No. 12 Explorer knife is a product of the French company Opinel, which has a 120-year history of knife manufacturing. The Opinel No. 12 Explorer model is the company’s first survival knife. The blade is 10 cm long and made of Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel; its handle is made of fiberglass, suitable for extreme temperatures, moisture, and the harshest conditions. It features a built-in survival whistle in the handle, a rope and belt cutter, and a tick remover. This knife features the Viroblock system, which locks the blade in both the open and closed positions for safety during use or storage. In 1985, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London selected Opinel as part of an exhibition honoring the “100 Most Beautiful Products in the World,” alongside the Porsche 911 and the Rolex watch-a profound recognition of the quality of Opinel products.
