The Spyderco DELICA® 4 FRN ZOME GREEN VG-10 FRN knife combines all the features of this best-selling model with a multicolored, hand-painted “zome” handle. Zome (pronounced “zoh-may”) is a Japanese craft that focuses on dyeing textiles. This ancient art form involves many different methods of creating patterns on fabric using dyes extracted from plants, flowers, fruits, and other natural sources, and is closely tied to many aspects of Japanese history and culture.

Inspired by this rich artistic heritage, Spyderco’s Zome knives are unique variations on our lightweight models, featuring injection-molded, fiberglass-reinforced (FRN) handles. The handles are molded in a light base color and then individually hand-painted by skilled Japanese artisans. Using a technique reminiscent of traditional hiki-zome (brush painting), different colors of paint are applied by hand to the handle to create distinctive, one-of-a-kind patterns. Similar to classic Japanese dyeing methods, the special dyes used penetrate the FRN completely to provide a permanent color.
