The Spyderco Persistence LIGHTWEIGHT knife is about 11% smaller than the Tenacious. The Persistence is designed to provide the same affordable comfort, versatility, and durability, but in a more compact format. It is ideal for smaller hands and for everyday carry in countries that limit the legal blade length to less than three inches. It offers an exceptional balance between comfort and full-fledged cutting performance. Introduced in 2009, the original version of the Persistence offers the same key features as the Tenacious, including full, skeletonized stainless steel liners, scaled, textured G10 scales, a secure LinerLock mechanism, and a four-position clip that supports left- or right-side carry, with the blade facing up or down. Its blade is precision-machined from 8Cr13MoV stainless steel-a durable and reliable steel that provides an excellent balance between cutting performance, corrosion resistance, and ease of sharpening. Its high, fully flat grind creates an impressive edge geometry for low-friction cutting efficiency, and unlike most Spyderco folding knives, its edge extends all the way to the handle. The minimal ricasso (the unground portion of the blade closest to the handle) and the absence of a thumb notch ensure a cutting edge along the entire length of the blade, superb control when using the “heel” of the blade, and exceptional cutting power when using the full length of the blade.
