Description
The Böker Plus Shovel M1874 is the most versatile outdoor tool after a knife. It splits firewood, cuts down trees, clears a path through thickets, stokes a campfire, aids in climbing steep slopes, serves as a makeshift lever, an emergency paddle, and a knife. The design consists of two parts-a blade and a spring-connected by five sturdy pins, further secured with a 40-mm-wide steel ferrule and encased in a shatterproof ash wood handle. This older design is complex and expensive to manufacture, as it requires two tools for stamping and bending, and significantly more assembly steps. However, it is rewarded with unmatched stability. In addition to later models, the M1874 field shovel was still in use during both world wars.
