The Hultafors OGHB leather guard protects the part of the handle closest to the axe head in the event of an excessive or inaccurate strike. The guard (also known as a protector or collar) is tied around the handle using the leather laces included in the set. The guard is manufactured in Sweden from Swedish cowhide and is produced with the utmost care for animals and the environment. The leather is vegetable-tanned for the best possible durability, and the natural finish means it will age beautifully with use.
