The Opinel No. 8 camping knife is manufactured by the French company Opinel, which has a 120-year history and has become a symbol of French culture and tradition. The first Opinel was created in 1890 by Joseph Opinel, who was 18 years old at the time and worked in his family’s tool workshop. The knife quickly gained popularity among local farmers, ranchers, and winegrowers thanks to its lightness and durability. This popularity soon spread beyond the borders of the Savoie region and, today, beyond France as well. The Opinel No. 8 model, part of the company’s hiking series, features an 8.5 cm partially serrated stainless steel blade, and its handle is made of rubber is resistant to extreme temperatures (-40°C to +80°C). The knife features the Viroblock system, which locks the blade in both the open and folded positions to ensure safety during use or storage.
