Description

The Sawyer MINI water filter features a filter membrane made of U-shaped hollow fibers with micro-pores no larger than 0.1 microns. The Sawyer MINI is manufactured using technology adapted from hemodialysis.

The Sawyer MINI water filter removes 99.999% of all single-celled or multicellular microorganisms, bacteria, and cysts found in untreated water.

The Sawyer MINI weighs about 60 grams and can filter 380,000 liters of water without replacing the filter membrane – 380,000 liters of water is the amount one person would drink in about 416 years!

• The Sawyer MINI water filter is very lightweight and compact, weighing only 60 g; it’s easy to carry and perfect for packing in a backpack, clothing pocket, or emergency bag-when traveling abroad, for example.
• The Sawyer MINI is extremely easy to use: fill the water pouch included with the filter from a lake, river, or stream; screw the filter onto the pouch and squeeze it to force the water through the filter.
• The water filter also comes with a drinking straw that you can attach to the front of the filter and use to drink directly from the water source.
• The filter fits all standard plastic water bottles, which you can buy at any store.
• The Sawyer MINI filter has a built-in cap, so you can pour the water directly into your mouth or fill a water bottle. When squeezing the water pouch, the filter can fill a 1.5-liter bottle in no more than 30 seconds

Does the Sawyer MINI remove taste, chemicals, and heavy metals from the water?

• Taste: The Sawyer MINI removes tastes in the water caused by bacteria, dirt, and organic matter.
• Chemicals and Heavy Metals: The Sawyer MINI does not contain activated carbon and therefore does NOT remove iron compounds, sulfur compounds, or other chemicals and simple compounds.

How fast does water flow through my filter?

• This depends largely on how clean the filter is and how well you’ve cleaned it. Altitude also affects the flow rate-the higher you are, the slower the filtration rate.

How do I care for the filter when the weather is very cold?

• Before initial wetting: The Sawyer MINI is resistant to sub-zero temperatures if it has never been wet.
• After initial wetting: Since there is no definitive way to determine whether the filter has been damaged by freezing, Sawyer recommends replacing the filter if you suspect it has frozen.
• During Hikes: If you are in sub-zero temperatures, we recommend keeping your filter in your pocket or somewhere close to your body, as your body heat can prevent the filter from freezing.
