Description
The Cold Steel GUNSTOCK WAR CLUB is a modern interpretation of the culturally significant rifle butt. In the early sixteenth century, Native Americans recognised the potential of the rifle butt as a lethal weapon and wasted no time in creating their own clubs based on its basic design and shape. Crafted from hard, straight-grained timber, they strike with remarkable force, particularly when reinforced with a short tip. Designed by master armourer Rich McDonald, Cold Steel’s version of this fascinating instrument incorporates many of the features found in historical examples, including a grooved centre line, a sharp point and the classic ‘Fawn’s Foot’ handle; however, rather than using traditional hardwoods, we have chosen to craft our staff from high-impact injection-moulded polypropylene. This material is highly impact-resistant, making it particularly suitable for this purpose. As an added bonus, this material does not warp, rot, crack or split like wooden versions! For re-enactors, the club has been given a realistic wood-grain texture, which can easily be painted to replicate the finish of historical models.
